When are implants an option?
Implants can be considered when:
- one or more teeth are missing
- a bridge or prosthesis is not desirable or possible
- you want more stability and comfort than with a loose-fitting prosthesis
Whether implants are suitable for you depends on various factors, such as the health of your jawbone and gums, and your overall health.
Treatment within our practice
At Tandartsen Weeshuis, we place implants in suitable and straightforward situations. We work with the A-brand Straumann, a globally renowned implant system known for its quality, reliability, and durability.
We carefully map your oral situation in advance and discuss together whether an implant is a suitable choice in your case.
Collaboration and referral in more complex situations
In more complex cases, for example, when there is little jawbone or when a more extensive surgical procedure is required, we refer you to an implantologist or an MKA surgeon (oral and maxillofacial surgeon). This way, you are assured of care that matches the complexity of your situation.
Even after a referral, we remain involved in the further dental treatment, such as placing the crown, bridge, or prosthesis.
Use of artificial bone
If the jawbone has insufficient volume or strength, it may be necessary to use artificial bone. This helps to build up the jawbone and provides a stable base for the implant. We will always discuss carefully in advance whether this is necessary in your situation.
Implants and prostheses
Implants can be used for:
- a crown on one implant
- a bridge on multiple implants
- a click prosthesis (dentures on implants)
Together we will see which solution best suits your needs, comfort, and oral health.
Careful consideration and clear explanation
The placement of implants is a careful process. That is why we take the time to discuss the various options, advantages and disadvantages, and the course of treatment with you. This way you can make a well-considered decision.
