Wear: observe, protect, and only treat if necessary

Wear of teeth can be caused by, for example, grinding, clenching, or acids in food. When wear is detected, we will discuss the various options with you.

In many cases, we choose to:

• monitor the wear during periodic check-ups
• protect the teeth with a bite splint, for example, in case of grinding or clenching

Only when there are complaints, loss of function, or a clear indication, do we discuss restorative treatment. In doing so, we always strive for a tooth-friendly and minimally invasive approach.

Building up teeth

When restoration is necessary, teeth can be built up with composite. This is a direct technique that preserves as much of the natural tooth as possible. If the situation requires it, indirect restorations, such as crowns or overlays, may be chosen.

Crowns and bridges

A crown may be necessary to protect a weakened or severely damaged tooth. A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth. We only choose these solutions when they functionally and sustainably contribute to your oral health.

Digital dentistry and CEREC

Our practice works with digital dentistry. With a 3D scanner, we accurately and comfortably map your teeth, without traditional impressions.

Thanks to our CEREC system, we can design and manufacture crowns and restorations directly in the practice. In many cases, these can be placed quickly, sometimes even on the same day, which means fewer appointments and an efficient treatment process.

Aesthetic dentistry and bleaching

Within restorative dentistry, there is also room for aesthetic improvements to the teeth. This includes correcting the shape, position, or color of teeth, always with an eye for a natural and appropriate result.

Depending on your wishes and the condition of your teeth, we can work with:

• composite (direct corrections in one appointment)
• porcelain veneers (indirect restorations with a very durable and aesthetic finish)

In addition, it is possible to have teeth professionally bleached when discolorations are experienced as disturbing. We always discuss which option best suits your teeth and expectations, and whether aesthetic treatment is advisable in your situation.
